Scope

FSSC 22000 is used to verify and certify food safety management systems of food chain organizations that process or manufacture products:

  • Perishable of animal or vegetable origin (meat products, poultry, eggs, milk and fish, fruit, fruit juice or fresh or canned vegetables);
  • Long-term preservation at room temperature (canned products, biscuits, snacks, oil, drinking water, beverages, pasta, flour, sugar, salt);
  • (bio) chemicals (vitamins, additives and bicultures, excluding technical and technological additives);
  • food packaging (in direct or indirect contact with food).

    FSSC 22000 also covers on-site transport and storage, if it takes place as part of the operation (eg cheese ripening).
